SUMMARY
- The Electrical Maintenance Planner is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating routine, corrective, preventive, predictive, and shutdown maintenance work to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation of plant assets. Develops high-quality job plans, optimizes resource loading, and maintain accurate asset and work management data in the CMMS (Maximo/SAP.) Partners with Operations, Engineering, Purchasing, and Storeroom and Materials teams to improve execution readiness, cost control, and maintenance performance to ensure all activities comply with company policies, safety requirements, and food manufacturing standards.
FUNCTIONS
Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions
- Review, prioritize, and validate work requests and work orders to ensure proper scope, approvals, and readiness for execution.
- Develop detailed, craft-specific job plans (Electrical, Instrumentation, & Controls) including task steps, labor hours, materials, tools, permits, lockout/tagout and safety requirements, and required procedures and design packages.
- Create and manage daily, weekly, rolling, and shutdown schedules for planned maintenance and project work; balance workloads and resource capacity to meet production and reliability needs.
- Coordinate with Operations, Engineering, Purchasing, and Materials and Storeroom to align execution windows, ensure parts and tool availability, and minimize downtime and rework.
- Requisition and stage parts, services, equipment, and special tooling; support inventory control, critical spares identification, and safety stock recommendations.
- Monitor preventive maintenance compliance, backlog health, schedule adherence, and work order progress; review completed work for quality, documentation completeness, and KPI and process compliance.
- Maintain accurate CMMS master data (assets, locations, PMs, job plans, BOMs, service records, lifecycle history) including asset creation and updates to support reporting and reliability analysis.
- Develop work breakdown structures and support project planning, cost estimating, tracking, and reporting for planned work and reliability initiatives.
- Analyze historical performance, trends, and forecasts to improve planning accuracy, labor/material estimates, and schedule effectiveness; recommend continuous improvement actions.
- Participate in planning, production, and management meetings, including shutdown planning and asset integration/commissioning discussions; support new equipment installations, modifications, and refurbishments.
- Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and training to customers, peers, and support personnel on work management processes and CMMS best practices.
- Follow and reinforce all Safety, Health & Environmental requirements; promptly report and/or correct unsafe acts and conditions, spills, injuries, and near-misses.
- Ensure all planned work complies with site SOPs, permit requirements, lockout and tagout standards, environmental practices, and applicable regulations.
- Support GMP and quality expectations as applicable; ensure accurate documentation and data integrity in the CMMS.
- Demonstrate professional conduct, teamwork, and accountability; perform quality work within deadlines with minimal supervision.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Professional Certifications/Licenses
- High School Diploma.
- Preferred Two years of college or technical school.
Experience
- Five years of electrical experience in Industrial Maintenance.
- Preferred Electrical Maintenance Planning and scheduling experience supporting Electrical, Instrumentation, and Controls work.
- Proficiency with CMMS/EAM systems (Maximo/SAP preferred) including work order management, job plans, PMs, and asset master data.
- Working knowledge of maintenance best practices (work management, backlog control, schedule compliance, execution readiness) and basic project planning concepts (WBS, estimating, tracking).
- Ability to estimate labor and materials, coordinate stakeholders, and communicate effectively across Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, and Supply Chain.
- Strong safety mindset with demonstrated commitment to Safety, Health, and Environment and Standard Operating Procedure adherence, Continuous improvement methodologies, and Operational Excellence.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (including any physical demands)
The following are the basic qualifications:
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. e.g., quotes and rental contracts.
- Duties require standing; walking; sitting; use of hands and/or fingers to grasp, handle, pick-up, pinch, type, or feel; reaching with hands and arms; climbing and balancing; talking and listening; close and distance vision with depth perception, color vision and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to lift 25 pounds.
- Proficiency with CMMS systems, (Preferred IBM Maximo or SAP.)
- Experience with Microsoft Project, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Strong knowledge of engineering, construction, and maintenance work management principles.
- Experience estimating electrical and mechanical labor, material, and contracted service costs.
- Working knowledge of electrical systems, including motors, switchgear, control modules, lighting, analyzers, transmitters, and cabling.
- Strong organizational, scheduling, forecasting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills across cross-functional teams.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Working Conditions
- Work is performed in an open, climate-controlled manufacturing environment shared with other employees. Planning activities are frequently conducted away from the office and may require spending more than half of the workday in production and external plant areas. Required use of hard hats, eye protection, and steel-toe safety footwear in manufacturing area.
Employee Supervision
- The Planning Manager assigns work in broad terms and focuses primarily on overall outcomes. This role requires evaluating data, facts and conditions in each situation to determine the appropriate course of action.
Decision Making/Accountability
- Decisions and results directly impact the planning work group and may influence other functional teams across the site.
