SUMMARY

  • Hourly Rate $27.20 - $29.44
  • This position is responsible for maintaining the operation of the Bulk Sugar Station and Liquid Sugar Shipping Stations, including storage systems and for the production, analysis, and shipment of bulk and liquid sugar products.

FUNCTIONS

   Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions

  • Participates on the Bulk Sugar Self-Directed Work Team.
  • Responsible for operating and maintaining the Plant Bulk Sugar Supply System and associated equipment (air compressors, dense phase (F-Station, Silos, Deep Creek), dehumidifiers, dust collectors, chiller, and sweet water skid).
  • Performs tasks associated with loading of bulk trucks and railcars.
  • Verifies shipping package is according to SOP, prints scale tickets, verifies accuracy of information and seals, ensures samples to ship are prepared according to customer specifications, and approves loads for shipment.
  • Monitors silo/bin levels and coordinates sugar transfer from Refinery to Packaging or Bulk Loading.
  • Monitors and corrects or reports variances in product quality standards and Critical To Quality (CTQ) for bulk shipments.
  • Responsible for bulk sugar supply quality and Safe Quality Food (SQF) program. Performs metal detector checks and ensures additional quality checks are performed at prescribed intervals to ensure the best quality products are being produced. Initiates documentation and provides signature to verify compliance with all required quality & SQF checks for the assigned area.
  • Responsible for Basic Equipment Care (BEC) on all machinery within their scope of authority.
  • Responsible for troubleshooting all problems that occur in the Plant Bulk Sugar Supply System and peripheral equipment and requesting mechanical or electrical assistance when needed.
  • Monitors Deep Creek and Loadout Bin pressures and makes recommendations for maintenance.
  • Responsible for the cleanliness/Five S of the Bulk Station area and completion of the Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS).
  • Knows and follows SOPs for area.
  • Responsible for knowing and observing all company safety, GMP, quality, and environmental practices and procedures.
  • Fills in for Liquid Shipping Operator as needed. See Specialties Liquid Operator Job Description for responsibilities.

Experience

The following are the basic qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year Bulk Sugar operating/loading experience

 

The following are the preferred qualifications:

  • Liquid Sugar operating/loading experience

 

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (including any physical demands)

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate is frequently required to stand, walk, climb stairs, and talk or hear. The associate is occasionally required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The associate must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The associate is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The associate is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; extreme heat; and vibration.
