Facility Maintenance Technician - $30.00 per hour


General Description

The Facility Maintenance Technician position is responsible for performing basic duties and work responsibilities of average difficulty in structure maintenance to include the primary fields of plumbing, carpentry and mechanical in addition to electrical; heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC). This includes office and field work. This position is focused on basic preventative plumbing and overall maintenance and will include monthly pm’s along with basic record keeping duties.

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs weekly, monthly and annual preventative maintenance carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, and HVAC work to maintain buildings and equipment in safe condition  
  • Assists in replacement of inoperable or old building materials and appliance (e.g. window glass, doors, sinks, motors, pumps, smoke alarms, cabinets, tile, filter systems) to provide a safe, comfortable working environment for employees using various tools and materials (e.g. power saws, ladders, drills, hammers, etc.)
  • Plans and schedules preventive maintenance to repair or modify defects and maintain operating condition of facilities and equipment using a computer and appropriate forms; obtains and provides job estimates/quotes and job completion notification using various communication formats, including computer
  • Performs ongoing maintenance and repair work on structures and appliances
  • Using Company, Local, State and Federal Regulations relating to Health, Safety, Operations, etc., Repair said deficiencies by performing carpentry, plumbing electrical, minor AC, and painting repairs, using the proper application and operation of a variety of maintenance equipment including, but not limited to, hand tools, power tools, rotating saws, drills, forklift, snorkel lift, and electrical diagnostic testing instruments
  • Must be able to install and repair sinks, toilets, showers, etc.
  • Must be able to diagnose minor air conditioner problems and test system performance using special equipment, such as hand tools, laptop computers and diagnostic hardware
  • Must be able to install doors of all types, common office outlets, switches, lighting etc.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to read, interpret, and work from blueprints, schematics and other working drawings
  • Prices and requisitions materials and suppliers for projects and regular operations
  • Coordinates with vendors and contractors to determine that work is correctly performed and completed as estimated
  • Must follow all prescribed policies, rules, procedures, and applicable regulations
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year of experience in facilities maintenance and repair (e.g. HVAC, electrical, carpentry, and plumbing experience)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Have a working knowledge and skill in the safe operation of relevant hand tools, diagnostic instrumentation, and equipment
  • Must be able to analyze and problem-solve complex plumbing issues
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously 
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write English, have good interpersonal and communication skills, including mathematical, reasoning, written and verbal skills
  • Must have the ability to use parts books and service manuals
  • Must have basic computer skills
  • Ability to work anywhere within the company and in variable/extreme weather conditions
  • Furnish and utilize the necessary tools and equipment in performance of the required job functions
  • May be required to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime

  • Ability to operate and use all equipment necessary
  • Ability to safely work on an isolated farm location or in a location where work is being performed with minimal supervision
  • Ability to move or handle various items generally weighing between 0-50 pounds; ability to lift and carry up to 50+ pounds

 

Working Conditions:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee works in outside weather conditions on a regular basis.

 

Outside working conditions may be rainy, hot, humid, dusty, windy, etc. depending on the weather as well as the work location. Some work locations will be isolated which requires the employee to work independently and safely with minimum to no supervision.

 

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

 

Employee may also be required to drive a vehicle.
