Position Summary
This is a salaried exempt position reporting to the Director of Risk Management, responsible for supporting the organization’s comprehensive risk and insurance program with a strong focus on claims management and workers’ compensation. This role works independently and collaborates with operations, safety, human resources, and legal teams to implement policies and procedures that protect company assets and minimize financial impact and liability exposures.
Key responsibilities
- Ensure timely and compassionate support for employees with work-related injuries and illnesses.
- Act as the primary liaison between the company and the Third-Party Administrator (TPA).
- Partner with operational leaders to implement return-to-work programs and creative solutions.
- Monitor and verify compliance with OSHA requirements and state regulations.
- Maintain accurate case records and documentation in designated systems.
- Review medical provider panels for compliance with state guidelines.
- Under the direction of the Director of Risk Management, evaluate and authorize claim settlements.
- Administer all workers’ compensation claims, including follow-up with injured employees regarding work status and medical appointments.
- Manage the Return-to-Work Roundtable and ensure light-duty assignments do not exceed 180 days.
- Conduct quarterly audits of workers’ compensation claims.
- Respond to inquiries from third-party administrators, legal representatives, internal customers and other external stakeholders.
- Perform additional projects and duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least 5 years of experience managing workers’ compensation claims across multiple jurisdictions.
- Professional certifications preferred (e.g., AIC, ARM, CPCU).
- Valid FL Adjuster License.
- Experience in both union and non-union environments.
- Strong knowledge of multi-state workers’ compensation laws and regulations.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with urgency and confidentiality.
- Experience managing remote teams.
- Exceptional communication skills—oral, written, and presentation—with the ability to influence diverse audiences.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
