Position Summary

The Network Engineer II supports and advances the enterprise network infrastructure serving both corporate office and manufacturing/plant operations environments. The role is responsible for assisting in designing, implementing, securing, monitoring, and supporting enterprise network infrastructure across on‑premises, hybrid, and cloud environments. The role acts as a Tier II/III escalation resource, contributes to network design and standards, and works closely with IT, OT, cybersecurity, and manufacturing teams to ensure minimal downtime, strong security posture, and operational continuity. The Network Engineer II will collaborate with vendors and IT Management to make recommendations for future enhancements of the network infrastructure. 

The ideal candidate has strong hands‑on experience with routing, switching, firewalls, VPN’s, wireless, and network monitoring, along with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues and support business‑critical applications


Key Responsibilities

Network Operations & Support

  • Design, configure, monitor, and maintain LAN, WAN, WLAN, and VPN environments
  • Monitor and troubleshoot complex network issues impacting office users, production systems, industrial equipment and security issues
  • Act as Tier II/III escalation support for network incidents and outages
  • Perform root‑cause analysis and implement corrective and preventative actions
  • Support uptime and reliability requirements for a manufacturing environment that operates 24/7
  • Support network changes, upgrades, and maintenance windows
  • Participate in planned maintenance windows to minimize production impact

 

 

 

Manufacturing & OT Network Support

  • Support network connectivity for plant floor systems, including
    • SCADA
    • PLC’s
    • HMI’s
    • Internet of Things
  • Support and maintain the segmentation and isolation between IT and OT environments
  • Ensure manufacturing networks meet latency, redundancy, and resiliency requirements
  • Collaborate with engineering and automation teams during equipment installations and plant upgrades

 

Network Design & Infrastructure Engineering

  • Assist in enterprise network architecture planning for corporate and manufacturing environments
  • Implement resilient designs with redundancy and failover where production requires high availability
  • Support data center connectivity, cloud connectivity, VPN connectivity, and ISP failover
  • Participate in network expansion, refresh, and standardization initiatives

 

Security & Compliance

  • Configure and maintain firewalls, VPNs, and network security devices
  • Support vulnerability remediation, audits, and compliance requirements
  • Ensure network configurations align with company security policies and manufacturing safety standards

 

Monitoring, Documentation & Automation

  • Maintain network monitoring, alerting, and security dashboards
  • Create and update network diagrams, standards, and runbooks for both corporate and plant networks
  • Document network changes, configurations, and incident resolutions
  • Assist with automation, scripting, or configuration management where applicable
  • Provide management with relevant information or reports as requested
  • Monitor departmental deadlines and follow up on action items.

 


 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent experience
  • 3–5 years of network engineering experience in enterprise environments
  • Industry certifications (CCNA, Network+, or equivalent)
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and subnetting
  • Experience with enterprise routing protocols and wired and wireless infrastructure
  • Hands‑on experience with firewalls and VPN technologies
  • Experience with hybrid or cloud networking (i.e., Azure connectivity, VPNs, ExpressRoute/Direct Connect concepts)
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and meet deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

  • CCNP and Security+ certifications
  • Experience supporting multi‑site enterprise networks, including corporate offices, remote locations, and manufacturing facilities
  • Experience supporting high‑availability or 24/7 environments, particularly where downtime impacts operations or production
  • Familiarity with SCADA or industrial control system networking concepts and network segmentation strategies

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Work performed in offices, data centers, farm fields, and production environments
  • Working conditions may involve being on the manufacturing floor, where personal protective equipment (PPE) might be necessary.
  • May require extended periods of working in outside conditions.
  • Occasional lifting of equipment (up to 50 lbs.).
  • Scale multiple flights of stairs carrying gear more than 20 pounds
  • Comfortable working at heights more than 50 feet

Work Schedule & Location

  • Monday thru Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Lunch from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM.
  • May require after‑hours and/or weekend support
  • Participation in on‑call rotation and after‑hours support as needed
