Position Overview

U.S. Sugar produces sugarcane on over 200,000 acres of land in the South Florida area. The Materials Planner position is responsible for working closely with the Harvest and Farms Maintenance Supervisors to ensure parts availability, delivery coordination, and inventory accuracy across Sugarcane Operations. This position provides direct supervision, daily direction, and performance oversight for parts runners responsible for picking up, delivering, staging, and communicating the status of parts needed to support Harvest and Farm Maintenance operations. Responsibilities include overseeing and managing all aspects of Ag satellite parts rooms, stock reorders for parts rooms and general supplies cabinets, timely delivery of emergency spare parts, delivery route coordination, and generating new material requests with Central Warehouse personnel.

General Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage inventories in all Ag satellite parts rooms and Harvest remote parts trailers.

• Supervise, coach, mentor, and provide daily direction to five direct reports, including parts runners supporting Harvest and Farm Maintenance operations.
• Set up and organize parts rooms and Harvest remote parts trailers as needed.

• Create, maintain, and update parts inventory lists for each parts room and trailer
• Supervise parts runners by assigning daily priorities, coordinating emergency and non-emergency parts deliveries, monitoring route efficiency, and ensuring timely communication with Maintenance Supervisors.

• Oversee emergency spare parts pickup and delivery by coordinating runner assignments, delivery priorities, and communication with Maintenance Supervisors.
• Plan and manage recurring non-emergency parts delivery routes to improve route efficiency, reduce delays, and support Maintenance Supervisor priorities.
• Serve as the liaison between Maintenance groups and Central Warehouse to support parts availability, inventory accuracy, material requests, and delivery coordination.

• Assist Maintenance Supervisors & Maintenance Planners with any parts kit discrepancies
• Generate new material number requests following the Central Warehouse process

Qualifications and KSAOs

Qualifications

• Four (4) year college degree in agriculture, mechanical, or related field (Preferred)
• Minimum of 10 years of previous parts warehouse management experience with a minimum of 5 years supervisory experience.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of working directly with Agricultural equipment and related parts.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Essential)

• Have a proven ability in the maintenance and reliability field commensurate with the scope and complexity of this position
• Strong planning and organizational skills
• Must have strong written, verbal communication, and math skills.
• Working knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management System (SAP) data inputs, retrieval, and use
• Mechanical/electrical background necessary and familiarity with different types of sugarcane agricultural and farm equipment including rolling stock (harvesters, tractors, vehicles, construction equipment, etc.), loading stations, power units, etc.
• Understanding of the proper use of work orders, priorities, schedules, etc.
• Supervisory experience with the ability to direct, coach, support, and delegate as the individual team member may require
• Must be able to work in an agricultural production environment, including overtime and weekends
• Must be able to work within a team-based environment and effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
• Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.  Exercise good judgment and solid thought process.
• Have the ability to act with tact and diplomacy in motivating and disciplining staff
• Be self-motivated and able to communicate effectively both within and outside of the Company
• Must be able to handle and coordinate multiple duties of an urgent nature.
• A valid driver’s license is required.

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee works in outside weather conditions on a regular basis.
• Working conditions may be rainy, hot, humid, dusty, etc. depending on the weather
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud 
• Duties of this job are also performed in an office environment
• Employee is also required to drive a vehicle for extended time periods
• This is a full-time position with core hours of 5:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; weekends, holidays, and extended hours may be required based on seasonal operational needs.
• Typically works a minimum of five days per week for approximately eight months per year.
• Typically works a minimum of four days per week for approximately four months per year.
• Long hours may be expected during peak operational periods.

• Ability to freely access all areas of the farm, including farm offices, tractor sheds, and various farm and harvesting equipment.

• Ability to operate and use all equipment necessary to run the farm and harvesting equipment and common office equipment
• Ability to move or handle various items throughout the farm generally weighing between 0-65 pounds.  Ability to lift and carry up to 65 pounds.
• Ability to work varied hours and days to oversee harvest operations
• Will be expected to work outside in all kinds of weather
