Hourly Rate: (A2) $19.20
- Reporting to the Team Leader, this is a rotating shift-work position with periodic overtime and recall requirements, including nights, weekends, and holidays, working independently, safely and efficiently inspect and close railcar doors in a safe manner as they exit the dump, and notify the Team Leader if there are any related defects, car bearing issues or cane build up on tracks.
FUNCTIONS
- Abide by all Company policies outlined in the Employee Handbook and comply with all Company, Local, State and Federal regulations relating to Health, Safety, Operations, etc.
- Successfully participate in and complete all training sessions, safety classes, pre-shift meetings, and/or certifications related to the position.
- Maintain good communications with the Milling Team Leader via radio and provide field support as required.
- Properly close all doors, and inspect rail cars for defects, making “bad car” notifications by voice report and document on the bad car report.
- Assist Mechanics and Machinists in breakdowns and scheduled maintenance outages, or as required.
- Utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System to accept, document, and complete tasks.
- Maintain checklist and written documentation pertaining to job.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have positive results from Company-designated tests designed to measure basic skills, job skills, mechanical aptitude and/or other interests, skills and characteristics.
- Must be 18 years of age or older and have a good work record and disciplinary history.
- Applicant must be able to read, write and speak the English language in order to comprehend instructions on the job, over the radio, and in the classroom, and to ensure personal and co-worker safety on the work site.
- New hires must pass a drug test and other pre-employment background screening, and successfully complete any required training or orientation course.
- Competence performing some or all of the duties of the vacant position or of a related position, preference will be given to those candidates with 2 years of experience working with industrial equipment.
- Must possess basic computer skills and an aptitude for working with and interpreting graphics related to process equipment.
- Demonstrate the physical ability to perform the essential functions of the job. Applicant must be in good health and physically able to perform all phases of the work.
WORKING CONDITIONS
100% of the work environment is conducted in an open outdoor environment, exposed to heights and rapidly changing temperatures including extreme heat, weather conditions, blowing dust and particles, loud noise, and limited visibility while wearing PPE (i.e.: hard hat, goggles, ear plugs); regularly standing for long periods of time, climbing stairs, kneeling, crawling, bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, and walking on uneven ground containing slip and trip hazards. Will routinely lifting, loading, pushing and/or pulling of up to 55 lbs. unassisted. Will regularly access enclosed, or tight, spaces using lock-out/tag-out practices and artificial light, working around wet or dripping, moving machinery with sharp edges, reaching above the head while crouching, standing, or laying prone, to provide maintenance. May be fitted for a respirator.
